Exhibition of Wild Animals

Abstract
The older zoos were parks with fenced enclosures and buildings containing caged animals. But animals in bare cages are not very the natural environments in which an animal or a group of animals is found. In some displays, the animals appear to be living together but are actually
separated by moats or by concealed fences. Many animals, however, are compatible and can be kept safely in the same enclosure. Moats separate the visitors from the exhibit. The moats are often cleverly hidden with plants, and the visitors does not notice them. He feels that he is seeing the¢¥ animals living wild in their natural settings. Natural enemies are separated from one another by concealed moats. Some zoos are fortunate in having beautiful natural settings, which they can adapt to the display of animals. All zoos still have cages, which are especially
necessary where the animals must be brought indoors in winter. Many of cages depict scenes appropriate to. the animals.
